WHAT IS SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS ?

Seborrheic dermatitis is a typical skin condition that mostly affects on your scalp. It causes scaly patches, red skin and stubborn dandruff. Seborrheic dermatitis can also affect oily areas of the body, for example, the face, sides of the nose, eyebrows, ears, eyelids and chest.

Seborrheic dermatitis is also called dandruff, seborrheic skin inflammation and seborrheic psoriasis. For infants, the condition is known as cradle cap and causes crusty, scaly patches on the scalp.

RISK FACTORS 

Neurologic and mental conditions, for example, Parkinson's disease and disease.

A weak immune system, for example, found in organ transplant recipients and people with HIV/AIDS, alcoholic pancreatitis and some cancers

Recovery from stressful medical conditions, for example, a heart attack

Symptoms :-

Skin flakes (dandruff) on your scalp, hair, eyebrows, bread or mustache

Patches of oily skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales or crust on the scalp, face, sides of the nose, eyebrows, ears, eyelids, chest, armpits, groin area or under the breasts

Red skin

Itching

Causes:-

Doctors don't yet know the exact cause for seborrheic dermatitis. It may be identified with:

A yeast (fungus) called malassezia that is in the oil secretion on the skin

An irregular response of the immune system.

It seems to be a combination of things,for example

Stress,

your genes

Certain medical conditions and medicines

Cold, dry weather

DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT 

Diagnosis:-

The seborrheic dermatitis diagnosed by examining your skin. The individual may scratch off skin cells for examination (biopsy) to rule out conditions with symptoms  like seborrheic dermatitis, including:

Psoriasis:- Causes dandruff and red skin secured with drops and scales. With psoriasis, generally you'll have more scales, and they'll be silvery white.

Atopic dermatitis (skin inflammation):- Causes itchy, inflamed skin in the folds of the elbows, on the backs of the knees or on the front of the neck. It often recurs.

Tinea versicolor:- This rash shows up on the storage compartment however as a rule isn't red like seborrheic dermatitis patches.

Rosacea:- This condition usually happens on the face and has very little scaliness.

 

Treatment:-

Treatment for seborrheic dermatitis is creams, shampoos, ointments, antifungal gel and medication, etc but these treatments are not permanent and safe. Thus homeopathic treatment is the best treatment for seborrheic dermatitis
